How much does a Mauritius trip cost?

Mauritius holidays suit both the budget and luxury conscious traveller.

Mauritius is one of the most wonderful holiday experiences you will ever enjoy.  Knowing what you need to budget for and what a Mauritius trip costs, makes it easier and quicker to get to that spectacular tropical Indian Ocean island to soak up the sun.

The cost of a Mauritius beach holiday varies greatly as it depends on quite a few factors.

To help you plan and budget we have put together a full breakdown of how a Mauritius holiday package is costed and how much a trip will cost you.

As a quick guide, if you are traveling from Johannesburg, South Africa, a minimum budget of R15,500 per adult and R5,000 per child (under the age of 12years) is recommended. These rates are based on a room sharing basis.

A Mauritius Holiday Package includes the following items:

Airfares

You can either buy a separate airfare or include it in your package price.  The latter is very often choreaper.

The cost of your flights, are subject to where you fly from and are categorised into 3 main seasons and age groups:

  • Low, Shoulder and High seasons
  • Adults (12yrs and older) pay full or seasonal discounted airfares.
  • Children (02 – 12yrs) are either free or less than the adult fare.
  • Infants (0 – 23mths) are either free or 10% of the adult fare.

Airport taxes

  • These fluctuate daily owing to currency adjustments and vary according to the airports you fly from and to.
  • The cost of airport taxes from Johannesburg to Mauritius are approximately R5,100 per adult and R4,500 per child.

Airport / Hotel Transfers

You have a few choices on how you wish to travel to your resort:

  • Pre-arranged airport/hotel transfers are usually included in your package price. This is very a cost-effective option, especially when traveling with larger families or groups.
  • As an alternative, you can either make your own way via a local taxi or a transport company.
  • Car-hire is affordable and can be pre-arranged or booked on arrival at the airport.

Bonus Tip: Save money by including a pre-arranged transfer & hire a little Mini-moke for a day. It is inexpensive and a fun way to explore and discover this beautiful island and her warmhearted people. This can be arranged with your Hotel Concierge.

Accommodation

Mauritius has a large selection of Guesthouses, Self-catering Apartments, Hotels, and Resorts available for you to choose from.

There are 5 main accommodation categories:
