Here’s everything you need to know about what travel is allowed during Level 2 Lockdown?

INTRA & INTER-PROVINCIAL LEISURE TRAVEL IS ALLOWED.

It’s time to pack your bags, hit the road, and discover the beautiful treasures all around you.

Inter-provincial travel for any purpose is allowed!

INTER-PROVINCIAL TRAVEL IS ALLOWED.

• Leisure Reasons: Leisure travel for any purpose is allowed.
• Business Reasons: Any person carrying out work responsibilities or performing any service permitted under Level 2, provided that such person is in possession of a permit issued by the employer.
• Moving to a new place of residence.
• Moving to care for an immediate family member.
• Members of Parliament performing oversight responsibilities.
• Learners and students who are travelling to schools or institutions when they are permitted.
• Attending a funeral.
• Transportation of mortal remains.
• Obtaining medical treatment.
• Persons who are returning to their place of residence from a quarantine or isolation facility.
• Any movement permitted under regulation 41.

Friendly warning: It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you qualify, are permitted to travel, have the correct documentation, and authorisations to travel under the Level 2 regulations.

Domestic passenger air travel is not permitted for recreational, leisure, or tourism purposes.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL IS ALLOWED, but only…

• if you are returning to your place of work or study outside of South Africa, and
• for repatriation and evacuation purposes.

All international passenger flights to and from South Africa must be authorised by the Minister of Transport.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Face mask.
• Photo ID – ID Book, South African Driver’s Licence or Passport.
• Children must have a Birth Certificate or a certified copy of a Birth Certificate no older than 3 months. (This does not need to be an Unabridged Birth Certificate)
• Copy of your E-Ticket AND boarding pass.
• Health Declaration Document from the Department of Health Travel Permit – see forms below

ESSENTIAL TRAVEL FORMS

You’ll need the following forms to travel in between provinces.

• Form 1: Health Declaration Domestic Screening Questionaire
• Form 2: Employer Permit to Travel
• Form 3A: Learner or Student Inter-provincial Travel
• Form 3B: Permit to Transport Learners or Students Inter-provincially
• Form 4: Funeral Attendance
• Form 6: Sworn Affidavit to relocate to another province

Remember to double-check you have all your travel documents in place, especially your Domestic Health Screening Questionaire Form.

A few TOP TRAVEL TIPS during Covid-19 to eliminate some of the travel stress:

• Check-in online prior to arriving at the airport.
• Arrive at least 2.5hrs prior to your flight departure.
• Only passengers, no visitors, are allowed entry at the airport.
• Expect maximum security protocols to be in place throughout your journey.
• Don’t forget your mask!
